Journey to Simplicity

This blog post was inspired by a song. I 100% recommend you give it a listen.
message brought to you by my typewriter
With my early graduation looming thirteen days away, not only do I feel like it's the beginning of a new era, but I feel that it's the beginning of a new life. And after many late nights contemplating what I want that life to be like, I came to the conclusion that I (and only I) have the responsibility to control my own happiness. And so I came up with one guideline for myself:
to simplify.
Every moment we experience is concrete. It's HERE. The past and the future? They are gone.
There's this thing in high school that I hated. It's called a schedule. You have to wake up and do the exact same thing ever day / every week / every month? Wait and it wasn't something I wanted to do??
This needs to change. Graduating early gives me this freedom called TIME. Time to take these concrete moments and fill them with H A P P I N E S S.

My number one priority is to put down the phone. Put down the phone & live.

Want to know something I've discovered on this journey so far? I don't NEED twitter. I don't NEED to look down at my phone every time I feel awkward. I DESERVE a life without those distractions because, contrary to popular belief, they can actually suck my happiness away in an instant.

three things I am love with: lists, my uke & typewriters are pretty cool too
My ultimate life goal is to experience the world, but I decided that would be unfair if I first wasn't a tourist in my own town.
It's time for little adventures.

coffee shops // book stores // weekend road trips // hiking // reading // etc.
welcome to the family :)
Last summer we lost our dog, Snickers, suddenly due to a quickly developing bone cancer. Losing him was horrible, but what was worse was remembering all the time I had already lost.
My next goal is to spend more time with people ( and puppies ??? ) who deserve it.
First "walk" with Rufus. We only made it to neighbor's mailbox due to his nature anxiety hahaha.
In case anyone is curious, my actual life plans for the future are to spend February and March working (hopefully at a realllyyyy cute bookstore) and adventuring before heading to school in the spring. But no matter what happens, I plan on doing things that make me ridiculously, can't-stop-smiling, HAPPY. What's the point if I don't?
Next time you hear from me on here, I will be a high school graduate! Wish me luck, world.
xoxo
